Golden Vienna – Mozart: Mass in C minor

Having started the season in Italy, and taken in Bohemia, Edinburgh Royal Choral Union’s musical Grand Tour of Europe ends in Golden Vienna with a performance of Mozart’s “Great” Mass in C minor. The mass was composed shortly after Mozart’s marriage to Constanze – the work radiates his love for her and the city that became his home. A showpiece for vocal soloists, it includes some of Mozart’s finest choral music – Handelian choruses, dense polyphony and an endless stream of gorgeous melody.
