Rhapsodic Bohemia: 4 & 5 March in Edinburgh & Haddington

In March, ERCU continues its ‘European Grand Tour’ with a programme of music from Bohemia. After the warmth of Italy in November’s concert, our spring programme includes very different mass settings by Antonín Dvořák and Leoš Janáček, two giants of Czech music.

Dvořák’s charming Mass in D major was composed for the consecration of a new chapel in the Bohemian countryside, and its intimate scale and organ accompaniment make it a perfect pairing for Janáček’s Mass in E flat; both composers’ works reveal a rusty simplicity and an innate gift for gorgeous melody. Join us for this exploration of Rhapsodic Bohemia.

Morley Whitehead: organ
