Support Us

ERCU is a Scottish Charity - Number SCO12050.
We depend upon the generosity of our supporters to:
  • fund the cost of hiring a venue to deliver a music-making experience for amateur singers;
  • develop the strengths of the chorus;
  • fund a 12-month Conducting Fellowship post;
  • support the future of our scholarships for talented young tenors;
  • commission new works by emerging and established composers;
  • fund a side-by-side orchestral and choral experience for student instrumentalists and singers;
  • contribute towards professional soloist fees for student singers; and
  • support the staging of concerts outwith Edinburgh.
We would like to thank supporters for helping to bring the joy of choral singing to our audiences.

Cover of book on the choir's history
Edinburgh Royal Choral Union 1982 - 2013
Into the new millenium: a time of change
This latest chapter in the history of the Edinburgh Royal Choral Union takes us into the 21st century and includes the celebration of its 150th anniversary in 2008. The aim is to explore beyond a basic overview of the years in question and get behind the scenes to look into what it takes for a large choir to function, including the highs and lows. However, emotion and true feeling for the music is never too far away, as is humour and the feeling of camaraderie within the choir.
 To purchase a copy of the history book please contact admin@ercu.org.uk
